COLORADO We are gearing up for our 2019 Walk
Watch for Details! |
Colorado Walk4Hearing had it's biggest year yet creating awareness and in raising funds in support of the hearing loss community. The Walk was held at Clement Park in Littleton on Sunday, June 10th. Eleven years after our first Walk4Hearing, we're proud to say that we are bigger and better than ever, with 22 walks across the country.
HLAA Colorado surpassed its goal of raising $30,000 last year! HLAA-CS Team, Springs Sweet Soles, was the top fundraising team in Colorado for the 3rd straight year, surpassing their goal with over $3,600 raised. And, HLAA-CS Member, Dixie Barnes, was again the top fundraiser in Colorado with almost $1,800; HLAA-CS Member Ann Belfiglio and HLAA-WCO Member Amy Becktell were neck and neck in second place.
HLAA-Denver Team, Denver Dazzlers, made its debut last year, raising over $2,600, and; HLAA-WCO Team, Western Slopers, raised over $1,400.
Thank you to all the donors and fundraisers! And, to all our sponsors and alliances; Ronnie - our Walk Manager; and the Colorado Walk Planning Committee and all the volunteers!
Why We Walk?
We walk because hearing loss is a public health issue in the United States
- 48 million (20 percent) Americans have some form of hearing loss
- 26 million have noise-induced hearing loss that could be prevented
- 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children are born deaf or with a hearing loss
- 60 percent of the people with hearing loss are either in the work force or in educational settings
Who Walks?
- People with a passion for hearing loss issues get involved because either they have a hearing loss themselves or they want to show support for someone they know with hearing loss.
- Parents of children with hearing loss walk as families and meet other parents along the way and share experiences.
- Company teams walk to build workplace camaraderie.
- Alliance groups such as schools for children with hearing loss, hospitals, universities and other nonprofit hearing loss-related organizations join the Walk4Hearing to raise money for their own projects.
- Hearing health care professionals walk because they support our cause.
THANK YOU to all of our Alliances, Supporters, Donors, Walkers, and Volunteers! Colorado raised over $32,000 in 2018 with your help!
